Josh Goldstine Named President of Worldwide Marketing at Universal Pictures
He has been serving as president, domestic marketing.
Josh Goldstine has been promoted to president, worldwide marketing at Universal Pictures, it was announced Thursday by Universal Filmed Entertainment Chairman Jeff Shell and Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley, to whom Goldstine reports.
Goldstine, who joined Universal in 2011, has been serving as president, domestic marketing. In his new role, he will lead the studio's global marketing efforts, including creative advertising, media, publicity, promotions, digital marketing, home entertainment marketing and administration. He will continue to work closely with co-president, domestic marketing Michael Moses, and executive vp, international marketing, Simon Hewlett, who is based in London.
The appointment comes as Universal moves leadership of its international operations, which had been headquartered in London, to Los Angeles.
Goldstine and his team have helped 19 films reach the top spot at the domestic box office during the past three years, contributing to the studio having its best year at the worldwide box office in 2013. Prior to joining Universal, Goldstine spent two decades at Sony Pictures.
“Josh is one of the brightest, most strategic marketing executives I’ve ever met,” Shell said. “In my short tenure at the studio, I’ve watched him shape brilliant campaigns for our films time and again. His leadership extends far beyond our marketing campaigns, and we are incredibly lucky to have his strategic advice and counsel in all parts of our business for years to come.” Added Langley, “There is no one I’d rather have marketing Universal’s films than Josh. Josh is not only highly creative, but he has an uncanny sense of how to reach audiences of all demographics with laser-focused strategy.”
