Makeup Monday: The Low Down on Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Pre-SAG Awards Glam
Including an explanation of that green glob mask.
Pre-awards-show glam is always fun to see on a celebrity’s Instagram feed, and no one posted quite as entertaining a “getting ready” picture as Veep star and Screen Actors Guild award nominee Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
The actress and comedienne appeared on her Instagram on Saturday afternoon wearing what looked like a slimy, day-glow green substance all over her face, with a caption that read, “The process has begun. Feeling confident.”

And though the actress didn’t take home the accolade later that evening, she won for what looked like Best Beauty Prep, thanks to that mask and subsequent glowing skin, all from 100 Percent Pure skincare and fruit pigmented makeup.
The mask was the brand’s Green Tea Water Bomb product ($7), which Louis-Dreyfus’ makeup artist, Karen Kawahara, used to hydrate and plump her skin so it was ready for moisturizer and makeup.
After removing the mask, Kawahara was inspired to create what she calls a “feminine and romantic” look to complement the flirty tone of the actress’s Monique Lhuillier dress. “The pink and grey shimmery eyes are what really set the tone for the look,” adds the makeup artist.
For those soft and flirty pink and grey eyes, Kawahara applied Fruit Pigmented Satin Eyeshadow ($23) in Halo all over the lids and shades called Sexy and Pewter from the Fruit Pigmented Sex Kitten ($48) palette tapped on top for a soft, romantic look.
The lips were made that soft pink with Fruit Pigmented Pomegranate Oil Anti-Aging Lipstick ($28) in Calendula, topped with lip gloss in a Shimmery Cocoa Berry ($18) shade.
