'Downton Abbey' Creator Julian Fellowes to Host Show on English Mansions for U.K.'s ITV
The "Downton Abbey" creator will front the show being produced by NBCUniversal's Chocolate Media for U.K. commercial broadcaster ITV.
LONDON – Oscar-winning scribe and Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes is to play tour guide around some of England's mansions in a new show for commercial broadcaster ITV's flagship channel ITV1.
Fellowes will be front and center of Julian Fellowes' Historical Houses, a two-part factual series which will see the multi-hyphenate take viewers on a tour of the hand-picked stately homes, detailing the history both upstairs and downstairs.
Fellowes said: "The great houses of Britain have for centuries been the guardians of much of our history, not just of the families who built and lived in them, but of the people who worked there, of the local area, of all of us. Where they have remained in the hands of the original families, the archives are rich in their stories and I have been on the trail of just a few of these."
NBCUniversal International Television’s Chocolate Media will produce for ITV.
ITV factual commissioning editor Diana Howie described Fellowes as "a master of his craft."
