Julien MacDonald Wants to Dress Kanye West
The designer had Yeezy in mind when creating his first-ever collection of menswear.
British designer Julien MacDonald, who counts Lucy Hale, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift among his red-carpet fans, is gearing up to present his first-ever menswear pieces at the upcoming London Fashion Week, and he's already aiming high as to who he would like to see wearing his new collection.
"It isn't a gentleman," MacDonald told WWD of his target customer. "It’s almost like a unisex kind of fashion, really. So I think it’s interesting but it’s not a tailored gentleman. If you want a suit, don’t come to me.”
So who fits the bill? According to MacDonald, Kanye West, Justin Timberlake and Chris Brown are ideal candidates. "It’s for fashionable men, for men who love fashion and love to buy into designer brands, and to buy something that other people won’t have,” he said.
The collection, which is inspired the designer's recent trip to Bali, consists of knitwear and printed tees with unexpected materials like neoprene and techno gabardine, which, if you ask us, sounds right up West's alley.
