SEOUL -- South Korea's biggest TV drama of the year, "Jumong," is getting a little bigger. Broadcaster MBC-TV confirmed Tuesday that the lavish historical series has been extended for an additional 20 episodes.

The designs and sets of "Jumong" (Prince of the Legend) are emblematic of the rising production values in today's South Korean dramas, with the original 60 episodes budgeted at 30 billion won ($32 million).

Ratings for the historical epic, a retelling of the founding of the Gogureo Dynasty more than 2,000 years ago, have steadily risen since the program began airing in May. As of November, audience share had reached as high as 48.1%.
