'Justified,' 'Criminal Minds' Actors Join Indie Comedy 'Hot Air' (Exclusive)
Jere Burns, Matthew Gray Gubler and Schuyler Fisk will star in the film about a man who, after he fakes his own death, learns he has a son he's never met.
Justified's Jere Burns, Criminal Minds' Matthew Gray Gubler and musician-actress Schuyler Fisk will star in indie comedy Hot Air.
The film centers around a burned out lothario (Burns) who fakes his own death in order to escape a life sentence in jail, only to meet the son he never knew he had (Gubler) at his own funeral. Fisk plays Summer, a love interest for Gubler's character.
Derek Sieg, who directed 2006's Swedish Auto starring Lukas Haas and January Jones, will direct from a script he wrote with Jeremy Goldstein. The project, which is produced by Kyle Fischer, Dave Szamet and Goldstein, is planning for a mid-May shoot in Austin, TX.
Burns stars as Wynn Duffy on FX's Justified, which was renewed in January for a sixth and final season. He's also a series regular on Steve Carrell’s TBS comedy pilot Tribeca. His previous TV work includes Burn Notice, Breaking Bad and Dear John, and he's repped by Innovative Artists and Trademark Talent.
Gubler plays criminal profiler Dr. Spencer Reid on CBS' Criminal Minds, and has also directed several episodes. Repped by CAA and Brillstein, Gubler recently starred in zombie comedy Life After Beth, which premiered at Sundance.
Fisk has written and performed music for a variety of film soundtracks including Safe Haven and Dear John. Her acting credits include Gus Van Sant’s Restless and 2002 comedy Orange County. She's repped by Innovative and Spacek Management.
