Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears Grab Canadian Music Video Award Nominations
TORONTO – Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez and Britney Spears on Tuesday bagged fan favorite nominations for the 2011 MuchMusic Video Awards.
Lady Gaga, Gomez and Spears will contend against Eminem and Bruno Mars in the best international artist category at the Canadian music video awards, to be voted on by ordinary Canadians.
Selena Gomez has already been announced to co-host the MMVAs on June 19 in Toronto.
Gomez also joins an MMVA performers’ lineup next month that includes Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Avril Lavigne, The Black Keys and City and Colour.
MMVA organizers on Tuesday also unveiled fan favorite nominations in both the best Canadian artist and best international video by a Canadian competitions for indie rockers Arcade Fire, Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne and rapper Drake.
On the jury award front, the best international video category includes nominations for Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Kanye West, Rihanna, Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez.
Elsewhere, Far East Movement, The Black Eyed Peas, Diddy-Dirty Money and White Lies will compete in the best international video by a group, and the best pop video category will see Alyssa Reid, Fefe Dobson and Marianas Trench compete against Canadian rap band Down With Webster, each with their latest music videos.
In the Canadian music video categories, Down With Webster, Fefe Dobson and R&B sensation Shawn Desman lead the MMVAs field with four nominations in all.
Other multiple nominees include JDiggz and Danny Fernandes with three each, followed a long list of double nominees that includes Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Arcade Fire, Avril Lavigne and Drake.
