Justin Chadwick to write, direct 'Wolves'
Adaptation of Stef Penney's prizewinning novel
Chadwick, who directed "The Other Boleyn Girl," is writing and will direct "Wolves" for Film4 and Target Entertainment Group.
Set in 1867 frontier Canada, Penney's novel details the story of mother tracking down her missing son.
Developed by Film4’s Katherine Butler, produced by Kate McCreery at Target Entertainment and executive produced by Film4 chief Tessa Ross, the movie is planned to shoot next year. MBA Literary agent Diana Tyler struck the option deal.
U.K. production, sales and finance house Target is also developing a number of other literary adaptations as part of its aggressive drive into movie financing and production.
Development projects include a big screen version of Dan Mills’ "Sniper One" novel, Geoff Nicolson’s "Bleeding London" and Kfir Yefet’s "The Smell of Apples" from Mark Behr’s debut novel of the same name.
Target’s first feature film "Endgame," directed by Pete Travis and starring William Hurt, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jonny Lee Miller and Mark Strong will unspool in the Premiere section of next month's Sundance Film Festival.
