Oscars: Justin Hurwitz Wins Best Original Score for 'La La Land'
"I'm so glad I met you," he tells the film's director, Damien Chazelle, in his speech. He also won best original song.
Justin Hurwitz took home his first Academy Award for best original score for La La Land at Sunday night’s ceremony.
During his acceptance speech, the composer thanked director Damien Chazelle, saying, "I'm so glad I met you."
He also credited "all of the L.A. musicians" and the film's cast for delivering performances that inspired his creation of the score.
Hurwitz beat out fellow nominees Mica Levi for Jackie, Dustin O’Halloran and Hauschka for Lion, Nicholas Britell for Moonlight and Thomas Newman for Passengers.
Hurwitz also won best original song alongside Chazelle and Justin Paul for "City of Stars" from La La Land.
The 89th Academy Awards were held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and aired on ABC..
