Kanye West, Justin Bieber talk collaboration
Artists discuss possible project via surprise Twitter encounterNEW YORK -- Kanye West is the latest artist to fall victim to Bieber fever. West chatted with teen pop star Justin Bieber on Twitter over the weekend about a potential collaboration between them and Wu Tang Clan rapper Raekwon.
On Sunday (Aug. 15), West tweeted, "Listening to @Justin Bieber "Run Away love"...I love Sunday mornings in the crib" -- referring to the song "Runaway Love" from Bieber's "My World 2.0" album. "I just did the most cliche celebrity tweet of all time," he continued. "When people tweet that I'm always like...uuum great...so what!" Shortly afterward, a dialogue between 'Ye and Biebs began to unfold.
"It's not a so what moment for me," Bieber wrote to West. "I'm 16 and a fan. I'm kinda hyped u are listening to my stuff. Thank u. Nice sunday morning," To which West -- still stunned by the power of modern technology -- replied, "So bugged out me and @JustinBieber are tweeting at the same time...Social networking is pretty awesome."
West then propositioned Bieber with a potential collaboration. "An[d] I'm honored that you like my Music @JustinBieber!!! You gotta hear the album. Maybe we can do something together. Me, You and Raekwon."
Bieber excitedly replied, "me, u, and the chef 2gether on a song = EPIC. haha. might sound crazy 2 u but even having this convo is living the dream. Thanks."
The two continued to praise each other, their music and even Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant. "What is crazy is that I play Heartless every night in my set acoustic," Bieber wrote. "this convo is crazy for me. Excited 4 ur new album."
Bieber wasn't the only celebrity West discussed music with this past weekend. After his secret show in NYC on Thursday, West headed to the studio with rapper Mos Def, Swizz Beatz and Bryant for the remix to his "Power" single.
"Power ... Me Kobe [Swizz] and Mos vibing in the studio," he tweeted on Sunday about the brainstorming session, including a photo of the group. "Kobe helped me finish my #POWER ®emix verse...Just building on the concept of #POWE...and Mos helped me find the "old me" lyrically."
As if those names weren't enough for an all-star remix, West mentioned even more potential collaborators in a later tweet. "Scheduled studio visits 2day, [Nicki Minaj] John Legend, Mos Def, [Swizz Beatz], Pusha T, Phillip Lim," he wrote, igniting the idea that the "Power" remix might include all of the mentioned features.
