Karl Lagerfeld's $3,000 Colored Pencil Set Is Already Sold Out
That was quick.
The unofficial king of luxury, Karl Lagerfeld, dropped his limited-edition pencil collection in collaboration with famed high-end writing utensil maker Faber-Castell on Thursday morning. But if you were looking to get your hands on a Karl Box, you're out of luck. As of 9 a.m. PT, the box was listed as sold out on Karl.com.
Even though there were only 2,500 Karl Boxes made, we were a little shocked to see that they had been snatched up so quickly, you know, given the $3,000 price tag. However, when you love pencils as much as the Kaiser does, maybe the price is well worth it.
"What amuses me while drawing is the fact to draw," said Lagerfeld in a release for the Karl Box. "To me drawing is like breathing and writing. These are things that almost relax me."
There are 350 writing utensils in the case, meaning that with a $3K price tag, each piece is priced at a little over $8.57. To each their own. Former Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz also collaborated with Faber-Castell a few years back.
