Kate Mulgrew joins NBC's 'Mercy'

Plus more casting news from the upcoming fall season

Former "Star Trek: Voyager" captain Kate Mulgrew has been cast on NBC's fall drama "Mercy."

Mulgrew will play Jeannie Flanagan, the mother of the show's lead, Veronica (Taylor Schilling). The series about a group of nurses and their relationships is in the vein of a less wacky "Grey's Anatomy."

She is repped by Innovative Artists and Lisa Loosemore.

In other casting news:

-- Jesse Williams has been tapped for a multiepisode arc on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy." Details about the character are under wraps, but it is understood that he is a confident new medical professional.

Williams, best known for his role in "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" and ABC Family's "Greek," next stars in MGM's "The Cabin in the Woods," directed by Drew Goddard and written by Goddard and Joss Whedon, and in director Antoine Fuqua's "Brooklyn's Finest." He is repped by WME and Roar.

-- Matthew Levy has joined Fox's upcoming series "Sons of Tucson" as a regular. Levy will play Brandon Gunderson, the oldest of three brothers who hire a hustler (Tyler Labine) to act as their father while their biological father is in prison. The new single-camera comedy that will premiere in midseason goes into production next month.

Levy's credits include theatrical films "The Misinvention of Milo Weatherby" and "Farewell Darkness." He is repped by UTA.

-- Joshua Leonard has landed a recurring role as "boho-trustifarian" Ricky on Season 2 of Showtime's "United States of Tara." Leonard appears in the films "Humpday" and "Pierce." He is repped by Laina Cohn Management and Bob Myman.

-- Mido Hamada has booked a recurring role on Fox's "24" playing Mehran, the leader of a group of operatives in an Islamic country working against their president. Mido has appeared on "Path to 9/11" and was a series regular on "State of Mind." He is repped by Laina Cohn Management, Patrick Hambleton Associates and John Meigs.
