Katherine Heigl: I Wish I Could Change Shonda Rhimes' "Crappy Impression of Me"
The 'State of Affairs' star addressed a comment made by her former 'Grey's Anatomy' boss
Katherine Heigl laments not being on better terms with Shonda Rhimes.
The actress was asked by Extra's Mario Lopez about a recent Hollywood Reporter cover story where Rhimes stated that "there are no Heigls" among the showrunner's tight-knit Scandal cast.
"It sucks," Heigl said about Rhimes' comment. "I am sorry that she feels that way, and I wish her nothing but greatness, and I have nothing negative to say about Shonda."
Heigl, whose new drama series State of Affairs premieres Monday on NBC, played Izzie for six seasons on Rhimes' Grey's Anatomy before leaving in 2010 amid reported tension.
The actress pointed out in the Extra interview that she watches Scandal every week and added: "I’m sorry she's left with such a crappy impression of me. I wish I could do something to change that. Maybe I will be able to someday."
The actress also brought up a Sept. 2013 article in THR detailing her on-set work behavior. "That took some stomaching," Heigl said about her reaction to the story. "The only way for me to prove it wrong is for people to have a work experience with me that doesn't speak to that at all."
