Katy Perry Releases Acoustic Version of 'The One That Got Away' (Audio)
The song is the sixth single off the pop singer's "Teenage Dream" album.
Katy Perry has released a stripped down acoustic version of her current single, “The One That Got Away.” The single, the sixth off her Teenage Dream album, has already been released in two other versions – the upbeat original and a remix featuring B.O.B.
Perry’s extremely successful Teenage Dream album recently matched Michael Jackson’s Bad as the second album in history to produce five No. 1 singles. If The One That Got Away can reach the No. 1 spot, Teenage Dream would become the first album to have six Billboard Hot 100 toppers.
The release of the more subdued, emotional version of the song comes just a few weeks after Perry’s husband, Russell Brand, announced that he was filing for divorce from Perry. The couple had been married since October 2010.
Perry kept silent after the news of the divorce broke on Dec. 30, until she tweeted thanks to her fans for their support on Jan. 8. “I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world,” she wrote. “You guys have made my heart happy again.”
Perry is keeping busy these days, and recently announced that she’ll be featured in an upcoming version of The Sims. On Tuesday, Electronic Arts announced that they had struck "extensive and exclusive creative collaboration" with Katy Perry for its game franchise The Sims. The partnership will kick off with a special Collector's Edition for The Sims 3 Showtime, launching in March. Perry will also be featured in advertising and marketing campaigns for the brand.
