Katy Perry, Adele, Arcade Fire Songs Among 75 Advancing in Oscar Race

Seventy-five songs from eligible feature-length motion pictures are in contention for nominations in the Original Song category for the 85th Academy Awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Tuesday.

Among the artists included in the shortlist are Adele for "Skyfall" from the James Bond pic; Katy Perry's "Wide Awake" from her 3D concert film; Keith Urban's "For You" from Act of Valor; Mumford & Sons, who teamed up with Birdy for "Learn Me Right" from Brave; Arcade Fire for their song from The Hunger Games' soundtrack, "Abraham's Daughter"; and Dolly Parton's "Here to the Moon and Back" in Joyful Noise. Additionally, the new song from Tom Hooper's Les Miserables, "Suddenly," penned by legends Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil, has made the list.

The 85th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live Thursday, Jan.10, at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

ABC will broadcast the Academy Awards live on Sunday, Feb. 24, from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
