Katy Perry Bonds With Local Screen Star While in India (Exclusive Photo)
NEW DELHI -- Following her first India concert last week, Katy Perry took some time off to become fast friends with top Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra. Perry (in Dolce & Gabbana) and Chopra went for a rickshaw ride in the southern city of Chennai, where the “California Gurls” singer performed at the opening ceremony of the Indian Premier League cricket tournament April 3. The evening also saw performances by leading Indian stars including Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, actor Salman Khan, actress Kareena Kapoor and others.
“I really liked Perry's performance and her costume, which was like a take on Princess Jasmine from Aladdin,” Chopra told The Hollywood Reporter. “It was fun to hang out with Katy the next day. We did lunch, and then I took her out for a rickshaw ride as I wanted Katy to have a typical Indian experience. We also did a bit of street shopping, buying some trinkets. It was cool.”

Before Perry left India, she tweeted: “Lovely to meet you (Priyanka)! Can't wait to host you in Los Angeles … also can't wait to raid your closet." The actress responded by tweeting: “For sure! And me yours for all your floral jumpsuits!”
Chopra is currently recording her debut album, for which she has been traveling to the U.S.; her next visit is slated for this month. The project features a mix of collaborators and aims to launch Chopra as an international artist after she was signed to Universal/Interscope via the East-West platform Desi Hits! Recently, she also became the first major Bollywood star to be signed by CAA.
When asked if there was any possibility of collaborating with Perry, Chopra said: “I can't say anything about that until something actually happens. As of now, its too early to comment.”
Meanwhile, in honor of her visit to India, Perry also posted a video link of a “Bollywood-meets-Hollywood” spiced-up version of “California Gurls” on YouTube. Watch it below:
