MTV Video Music Awards: Katy Perry Leads Field With 9 Nominations

Adele and Kanye West each collect seven noms for the show, which will air Aug. 28.

Katy Perry, Adele and Kanye West are the top nominees for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. Perry collected nine noms, including video of the year and best female video for "Firework." Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" from her 21 album will also compete for video of the year and goes head-to-head against Perry in six other categories.

Like Adele, Kanye West also collected seven nominations --  for his collaboration with Perry on "E.T." as well as his "All of the Lights" and "Power" videos.

Bruno Mars, Beastie Boys, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Chris Brown and Foster the People are also among the acts with multiple nominations for the cable channel's "Moonman" trophy.

The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Aug. 28.
