Katy Perry Is Now Selling #LeftShark Onesies, but Is She Too Late?
The singer announced her new merchandise venture a month after #LeftShark went viral.
It took her a month, but Katy Perry is finally cashing in on #LeftShark.
The singer announced Monday on Twitter that #LeftShark onesies would be available for purchase on her website, which now lists the "Katy Perry" branded shark outfit for $129.99.
Katy wrote, "YOU CAN NOW BE A PROPER #LEFTSHARK WITH THIS OFFICIAL, GLORIOUS #LEFTSHARK ONESIE."
But she may be late to the party. A quick eBay search for "Left Shark" yields more than 1,000 results, mostly for Left Shark-related memorabilia and merchandise like T-shirts and socks. Etsy, another large e-commerce website, also has exploded with similar items, including cookie cutters, figurines and baby onesies. All of which have been on sale for weeks now.
The market is clearly saturated, but Perry's official stamp could count for something.
#LeftShark went viral during Perry's Super Bowl halftime performance Feb. 1.
