Katy Perry Named NARM Artist of the Year
The hitmaker will receive her award at a gala dinner and ceremony held on May 10 in Los Angeles. Epitaph Records founder Brett Gurewitz and the Recording Academy will also receive honors.
The mind-boggling global success of Katy Perry's Teenage Dream album will be awarding the singer another accolade, as she will be named NARM's Artist of the Year at the Music Biz 2012 Awards Dinner Party in Los Angeles May 10.
The singer, whose 2011 album garnered her five number one hits on the Billboard Hot 100, tying (and very nearly breaking) the record set by Michael Jackson's Bad, re-released the album with three bonus tracks as Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection March 26, including "Part of Me," which she debuted during her performance at the Grammys.

"Katy's music was absolutely everywhere over the past year, and her dominance of the singles charts is a nearly unprecedented accomplishment," said Jim Donio, President of NARM, in a statement. "She has unquestionably blossomed into a true global superstar and has earned this Award in every sense of the word."
Perry will be joining a prestigious group of past recipients that includes Taylor Swift, Coldplay and Green Day. Her domination of pop culture will continue with the debut of her Katy Perry: Part of Me documentary film when it comes out in 3D in the summer. The track "Part of Me" continued her strong showing on the charts, debuting at no. 1 on the Hot 100 upon its release.
