Katy Perry's Concert Pic Hits Theaters July 5
The studio is partnering on the project with Direct Management, Imagine Entertainment, AEG and EMI.
Paramount will open 3D concert pic Katy Perry: Part of Me on Thursday, July 5, looking to take advantage of the long holiday weekend.
The film, which will go out through the studio's Insurge label, opens two days after Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man and hopes to serve as counterprogramming to four-quadrant popcorn fare.

Paramount is partnering on the film with EMI -- which will co-finance the project -- AEG, Direct Management and Imagine Entertainment. It documents the international superstar's recent California Dreams Tour as well as her life offstage.
Magical Elves, the powerhouse producing duo of Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz behind some of the biggest reality and nonscripted TV, will direct the movie, while Craig Brewer (Footloose) will executive produce.
Perry began documenting her California Dreams Tour, consisting of 124 performances, more than a year ago. Her management team at Direct Management soon brought AEG into the project to film two of the shows at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The partnership with Imagine followed.
"I am so excited to paint the silver screen in 3D color with help from our friends at Paramount and Imagine," Perry said. "For the last year and a half, I have intimately documented my life both on and off the stage of the California Dreams Tour. I want to take you behind the cotton-candy clouds and reveal the highs and lows, nuts and bolts of this extraordinary ride. I promise you, after seeing this film, you will truly know me."
Paramount was the studio behind Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, which became the most successful music documentary at the domestic box office, grossing $73 million. The pic was released via the studio's Insurage label, headed by Amy Powell.
Paramount Film Group president Adam Goodman said the Perry project was a natural fit. "We're beyond excited to offer her fans, who inspired this movie, and moviegoers everywhere this once-in-a-lifetime look into her world and capture a moment in time."
