Kelley Baker has long kept the city's eyebrows in check from her jewel-box studio on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice. Now, the brow expert takes her tweezing talents east with the debut of her Beverly Hills studio at the Lasky Clinic.
"We are growing and expanding -- and for our clients who live in Beverly Hills, the Valley and Silver Lake -- Venice [1636/38 Abbot Kinney Blvd., 2nd Floor] is far! So I'm bringing it back to my roots, where I started," says Baker, who kicked off her career in the eyebrow world with Beverly Hills-based Damone Roberts. Her knack for sculpting perfect arches not only earned her the nickname "Brow Diva," but an impressive client list that includes Mandy Moore, Kelly Rowland and Michael Douglas.
Baker is the only nonsurgical expert at her new digs, where she holds court alongside some of the city's most renowned plastic surgeons, including Dr. Andrew Frankel. This isn't the first time Baker's path has crossed with the rhinoplasty specialist. As a child, Baker fell off a skateboard and scarred her lip, which left her self-conscious and uncomfortable when she smiled. Several years ago, Baker visited Frankel for Botox, and the conversation quickly turned to her injury and how he could help. "He fixed it, and honestly since then, I've never thought twice about it," she says.
The pair reunited at the two-year anniversary bash for Kelley Baker Brows in December, when Frankel, impressed with Baker's business model and social media following, extended an offer for Baker to set up shop in the Lasky Clinic. Baker will split her time between her Venice flagship and the Beverly Hills location, taking clients on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the new space between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
To maintain perfect arches in between appointments, grooming essentials from the Kelley Baker Brows line is also available.
