Kelly Preston among latest TV castings

Adam Goldberg also joins a series, plus several more

Kelly Preston has signed to star in HBO's pilot "Suburban Shootout," while Adam Goldberg has come aboard ABC's drama presentation "The Unusuals."

Meanwhile, Danielle Nicolet has been cast opposite Debra Messing in USA Network's series "The Starter Wife," Nick Thune has joined ABC's comedy presentation "Roman's Empire," and Michael Landes will star opposite Alfred Molina in Fox's drama pilot "Courtroom K."

Based on the British series, the Barry Sonnenfeld-directed "Suburban" is a dark comedy about a woman who escapes the city for suburban bliss only to find herself caught between two rival gangs of homicidal housewives vying for control of the town. Preston will play Camilla, the formidable leader of one of the gangs. She joins the previously cast Kerri Kenney and Rachael Harris.

"Unusuals," from Sony, is a dramedy set at a New York police precinct. Goldberg will play Delahoy, a detective who has a brain tumor that no one else knows about.

In "Wife," a follow-up to the high-rated miniseries, Nicolet will play a new friend of Molly's (Messing) who is a parent and the wife of a Los Angeles pro athlete. "Wife," from Universal, McGibbon/Parriott and 3 Arts, premieres in October. Nicolet is repped by APA and Luber Roklin.

"Empire," from CBS Paramount, Katalyst and Tiger Aspect, centers on a lovable guy who can't extricate himself from his ex-girlfriend's wealthy family and her outrageous father. Thune is playing Leo. The actor is repped by Endeavor and 3 Arts.

"Courtroom K," from 20th Century Fox TV, is a darkly comedic drama set in a Milwaukee Superior Court that revolves around a judge (Molina), a prosecutor (Landes) and a public defender (Megan Dodds). Landes is repped by Endeavor and attorney Harris Hartman.
