Kellyanne Conway Responds to Anderson Cooper's Eye Roll
"Can you imagine having a male anchor on a network roll eyes at Hillary Clinton?"
Kellyanne Conway isn't surprised that Anderson Cooper's eye roll during her Tuesday night CNN appearance has now gone viral.
While speaking on Fox & Friends Thursday morning, President Donald Trump's counselor boiled the moment down to sexism, something she says Trump's formal rival, Hillary Clinton, often uses as an "lame excuse for why her disastrous candidacy and campaign lost six months ago."
After the news broke of FBI Director James Comey's firing, Conway returned to the cable news circuit for back-to-back appearances on CNN. But it was her Tuesday night visit to Anderson Cooper's 360 that sparked the eye roll everyone from late-night TV to Twitter is talking about.
"I face sexism a lot of times when I show up for interviews like that," said Conway of making TV appearances.
She then said she wanted to provide context for the interview, which resulted in a tense back-and-forth over Trump's decision.
"[Anderson Cooper] had me sit through a bunch of tapes showing then-candidate Trump commending Jim Comey about Hillary Clinton's emails and talking about him, et cetera," she explained. "I said, 'Hey thanks for the trip down memory lane' and then he rolled his eyes."
She continued, "Could you imagine having a male anchor on a network roll eyes at Hillary Clinton? At a female representative or spokeswoman for President Obama or President Bill Clinton? I think not."
During her Fox News appearance, she also commented on the "hypocrisy" of Democrats over both Comey and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and continued to defend Trump for the ouster.
