Ken Stovitz Leaving Overbrook Entertainment for Paradigm
The senior agent is bringing Jada Pinkett Smith and Jaden Smith as new clients.
Ken Stovitz will report to Paradigm as a senior agent and member of its management committee, which oversees the agency's daily operations, beginning March 4, it was announced Wednesday.
"Ken Stovitz is an invaluable addition to our senior management team," said Paradigm chair and CEO Sam Gores in a statement. "He is a savvy executive, has incredible taste, an excellent reputation, and we share a vision for the agency's future, which he will be a key architect in building."
Stovitz most recently was a partner at Will Smith's Overbrook Entertainment, where he executive produced the star's Seven Pounds and served as a producer on his son Jaden Smith's The Karate Kid.
"Sam is giving me the opportunity to work side by side with him and the management committee to grow the agency at a time when the cycle is shifting in favor of the artist," Stovitz said. "The creators of entertainment art will have a much stronger say in their destiny, and I am very excited to get started."
Stovitz's move does not mean an end to his relationship with the Smith family. Jaden and Jada Pinkett Smith have been announced as his first clients at Paradigm.
Before leaving for Overbrook in 2007, Stovitz was an agent for 18 years at CAA, where his clients included Will Smith, Kathryn Bigelow, Amy Heckerling and Brian De Palma.
