Keshet Studios, Associated Producers Developing 10-Hour 'Kaballah' Event Series
The U.S. studio of 'Homeland' producer Keshet International is expanding into TV documentary production under unscripted division head Rob Lee.
Homeland's Keshet International has pacted with Canadian biblical documentary producer Associated Producers to develop Kabbalah, a 10-hour TV event series about the ancient Jewish mystical tradition.
Keshet Studios, the Israeli media group's Los Angeles-based subsidiary, will see its non-scripted TV division, run by Rob Lee, work with Simcha Jacobovici, president of Toronto-based Associated Producers, to develop and produce the epic series.
"This is the perfect way to launch our U.S. premium documentary initiative and complement the impressive ongoing work of Keshet international," Lee said Wednesday in a statement.
The L.A.-based subsidiary of Keshet International is also producing scripted projects, and inked a first-look programming deal at NBC, which includes a co-production pact with NBC’s sibling studio, Universal Television.
Jacobovici’s Toronto-based Associated Producers is best known for biblical TV docs like The Naked Archeologist, The Lost Tomb of Jesus and the upcoming Search for Atlantis.
Robert Lantos’ Serendipity Point Films will executive produce Kabbalah.
