Keshet UK, France's Atlantique Greenlight Ron Leshem's 'Crater Lake'
Leshem created Israeli drama “The Gordin Cell,” adapted by NBC for the US as spy-thriller “Allegiance.”
Keshet UK. the British division of the fast-growing Israeli production company behind the original Homeland and Rising Star, has signed a deal with Paris-based Atlantique Productions to co-produce Crater Lake, the latest series from Ron Leshem, creator of Israeli hit The Gordin Cell.
Atlantique CEO Olivier Bibas and creative director Patrick Nebout will act as executive producers on the first, 8-episode season of 1- hour drama, billed as a “life-affirming show about death.
Keshet Media Group CEO, Avi Nir, Keshet International CEO Alon Shtruzman and Keshet UK head of scripted, Sara Johnson, serving as executive producers on Crater Lake.
NBC has just given a series order for Allegiance, the US adapatation of Leshem's Gordin Cell. Leshem is an executive producer on the NBC show, which follows a young, idealistic CIA analyst (Gavin Stenhouse), specializing in Russian affairs who learns that his parents are former Soviet spies the Kremlin has re-activated as part of a terrorist plot against the United States. Scott Cohen and Hope Davis also star.
Keshet UK was set up in 2012 as the Israeli group's first international production outpost. Crater Lake will mark the division's first European co-production.
Atlantique is an old hand at cross-border productions, having produced such series as the crime comedy Death in Paradise, a co-production recently greenlit for a fourth season; Tom Fontana's drama Borgia and the action series Transporter, recently rebooted for a second season on TNT after the first season aired on Cinemax.
