Kevin Costner to Receive Lifetime Achievement Honor at France's Cesar Awards
The actor-director will receive an honorary award at the ceremony on Feb. 22.
Kevin Costner will receive an honorary Cesar at France’s equivalent of the Oscars this month, the Academy of Arts and Techniques announced Friday.
The Oscar-winning actor-director-producer will be honored for his lifetime of work on such films as Dances with Wolves, The Untouchables, JFK and The Bodyguard. “Films that made us dream,” said Academy president Alain Terzian in a statement. The award will recognize his “fabulous contribution to the history of cinema.”
Costner was highly recognized for Dance with Wolves in 1990, receiving an Academy Award, Golden Globe and DGA and PGA awards for his directing and producing work. He was awarded an Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award for his lead-acting role in 2012's Hatfields & McCoys miniseries from the History channel.
Costner will next appear in June's Man of Steel as Clark Kent's adoptive father in the Superman film and in Kenneth Branagh's Tom Clancy adaptation Jack Ryan in December.
The 38th annual Cesar Awards will be presented Feb. 22 in Paris.
