Kidz, rookies crash top 10

Milestone for '05 Nickelback smash

A pair of singer-songwriters pay their first visit to the top 10 this week, but neither can top the hit machine that is Kidz Bop.

Musical youth is served again as "Kidz Bop 13" scores the week's highest debut at No. 4. It's the 16th title in the series (including compilations) to make the Billboard 200 and the seventh consecutive top 10 effort. The new Razor & Tie disc features kid-friendly takes on hits by Fergie, Avril Lavigne, Plain White T's and others.

Chris Cagle scores the only other debut in the top tier with his fourth album, "My Life's Been a Country Song" (Capitol Nashville), which bows at No. 8. The Louisiana-born country singer's previous chart peak was with his eponymous 2003 disc, which reached No. 15.

The other first-timer in the top 10 is singer-pianist Sara Bareilles, whose major-label debut "Little Voice" has been knocking around the chart for 21 weeks and leaps 14 notches to No. 7. The Californian's single "Love Song" has been certified platinum (1 million downloads) and No. 5 and still rising after four months on the Hot 100.

Meanwhile, Jack Johnson dominates the big chart for a third straight week with "Sleep Through the Static" (Brushfire), and Alicia Keys logs her 15th consecutive week in the top three with "As I Am" (MBK/J). The last album to spend its first 15 weeks in the top three was Usher's 2004 blockbuster "Confessions," which spent its initial 17 weeks there.

Talk about staying power. Nickelback's "All the Right Reasons" (No. 48) has now spent its first 125 chart weeks in the top 50. The last album to do so was Shania Twain's mega-smash "Come on Over," which spent its first 129 weeks there and went on to become the eighth-best-selling album in U.S. history. "All the Right Reasons" debuted at No. 1 in October 2005 and has sold 6.6 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
