More than a year has passed since Kim Kardashian famously filed to end her marriage to Kris Humphries after a shockingly short 72 days, but the pro basketballer still won't grant her what she wants: a divorce.
The Brooklyn Nets player has filed a motion to further stall their proceedings, accusing Kardashian -- who's expecting a child with beau Kanye West -- of using the pregnancy to gain an edge in efforts to accelerate a trial and (finally) sever legal ties with her estranged husband.
"What is really going on here is that an 'urgency' in the form of an apparently unplanned pregnancy, something the Respondent had nothing to do with, is perceived by Plaintiff as an opportunity to gain a litigation advantage by trying to force this court to prematurely set this matter for trial," said Humphries' attorney, Marshall Waller, via E! News.
In court documents, Humphries alleged that he's not available to attend Kardashian's deposition until the middle of May at the earliest because of his game schedule (sidenote: he's not playing as much anymore). He seeks an annulment, claiming fraud and that Kardashian married him as a PR stunt; she has denied his accusations. (A hearing on a prospective trial is scheduled for Feb. 15.)
"What are they hiding?" Waller asked in the filing. "What is there in the raw footage of this televised courtship, 72-day marriage and resultant breakup that they are so afraid of us discovering?"
Last month, while appearing on the Late Show With David Letterman, Kardashian said she wants Humphries "to be happy and I want us to move on, and that’s really what I want, is just to move on."
