The hit Broadway musical will premiere in the West End at London's Adelphi Theatre on Aug. 21.

Kinky Boots is getting ready to return to its old stomping grounds.

The Tony-winning musical will premiere in the West End at London's Adelphi Theatre on Aug. 21, producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig announced Friday.

"We are thrilled and deeply honored to be bringing Kinky Boots back home to British shores, where this inspirational story is set," said Roth and Luftig in a statement. "The show is big-hearted and filled with joy, and we trust that it will be warmly embraced by audiences in the U.K." Director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell added, "I am delighted to see this big-spirited musical arrive in London. Kinky Boots is very close to my heart, and I am really looking forward to staging it here with a British cast."

Based on the 2005 Miramax film of the same name, the musical tells the story of a struggling British shoe factory saved from bankruptcy by ditching its trademark brogues and diversifying into customized thigh-high boots for drag queens. The show features a book by Harvey Fierstein and music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper.

In addition to best musical, the production won Tonys in 2013 for lead actor Billy Porter's flamboyant turn as glamazon Lola, as well as for Lauper's score, Mitchell's choreography and for orchestration and sound.
