Kinowelt's Georg Miros steps down

Veronika Morawetz to be interim consultant

COLOGNE, Germany -- Georg Miros has resigned as head of marketing and distribution at Kinowelt. The move comes as the German distributor reshuffles its executive suite in the wake of its acquisition by StudioCanal for 70 million euros ($111 million).

Earlier this month, Jan-Pelgrom de Haas took over as Kinowelt's new CEO, reporting directly to StudioCanal head Oliver Courson.

Miros has run distribution at Kinowelt since 2003 and was a key player in the company's comeback, running the successful campaigns for boxoffice hits "Mr. And Mrs. Smith," "March of the Penguins" and record-breaking soccer documentary "Germany: A Summer Fairytale," among others.

Veronika Morawetz, managing director of German indie distributor Stardust, will act as an adviser on Kinowelt releases until the company appoints a successor to Miros.
