Kirkpatrick lands Par pic with Murphy
EmptyKarey Kirkpatrick has signed on to direct the Eddie Murphy starrer "Nowhereland" for Paramount Pictures.
Penned by Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson, the comedy centers on a struggling businessman who solves his troubles at work by consulting his 6-year-old daughter and the imaginary world she has created.
Shooting is scheduled to begin Sept. 10.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing through his Paramount-based shingle alongside Solomon.
Kirkpatrick recently inked a two-year, first-look production deal with Paramount's Nickelodeon Movies and MTV Films under his newly formed Blue Shirt Prods. label (HR 4/11).
The multihyphenate, who wrote and directed DreamWorks Animation's "Over the Hedge," penned such family films as "Charlotte's Web" and "Chicken Run." Kirkpatrick also produced Paramount's upcoming fantasy "The Spiderwick Chronicles."
He is repped by WMA and the law firm Katz, Golden and Sullivan.
