Kit Redmond taking over RTR Media
Vet Canadian producer buys out co-foundersTORONTO -- Veteran Canadian producer Kit Redmond will take over sole ownership of boutique TV producer RTR Media after buying out co-founders Hans Rosenstein and Debbie Travis, Canada's TV design guru.
Redmond co-founded Toronto-based RTR in 2004 with Rosenstein and Travis, the host of popular Canadian design series like "From the Ground Up with Debbie Travis" and "Debbie Travis' Facelift."
Now Travis and Rosenstein will focus on their own Montreal-based production house, Whalley-Abbey Media, which also oversees Travis' expanding design merchandise and book lines.
Redmond in turn will take the helm at privately-run RTR as it produces the third season of "Income Property" for HGTV U.S. and HGTV Canada, and a new 13-part financial series for Canadian womens' cable channel W.
Also in RTR's future are scripted dramas after Redmond led a TV drama incubator at the National Screen Institute that spawned two indie comedies, "'da Kink in My Hair" for Global Television and "Less Than Kind" for Citytv and now HBO Canada.
Travis and Rosenstein will remain advisors to RTR Media, with no ownership stake, and continue to run the Toronto-based design studio Debbie Travis Branding.
