Kohl's to sell Food Network cookware in '07
EmptyMILWAUKEE -- Kohl's Corp. announced Wednesday its department stores will sell Food Network-branded cookware, dinnerware and kitchen gadgets in all its stores and online starting in the fall of 2007.
Kohl's said the partnership with the popular cable television channel, owned by The E.W. Scripps Co.'s Scripps Networks Inc., marks the first national home merchandise launch for Scripps, which also owns HGTV, DIY Network, GAC and Fine Living.
Food Network's celebrity chefs will be involved in marketing the products, which also include kitchen electronics, table linens, cutlery and pantryware, the Menomonee Falls, Wis.-based retailer said.
The Food Network, now in its fifth year with a reach of 90 million homes, is exciting and entertaining for consumers, said Kohl's president Kevin Mansell.
"This is yet another way Kohl's continues to deliver on our mission of brands, value and convenience while further differentiating in the marketplace," he said in a news release.
Food Network president Brooke Johnson said the "development of a housewares line will enable us to reach new consumers as well as the passionate and loyal viewers of Food Network."
The announcement marks yet another union for the midlevel retailer. Last month, Kohl's announced it was working with high-end fashion designer Vera Wang to create new fashion and a lifestyle brand. That will debut in the fall of 2007 as well.
Kohl's shares fell 19 cents to $65.70 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange, while Scripps shares rose 8 cents to $47.72.
