Kristen Schaal Joining J.K. Simmons in Indie Comedy 'The Runaround' (Exclusive)
Emile Hirsch also stars in the movie.
Kristen Schaal, who stars with Will Forte in The Last Man on Earth, has joined Emile Hirsch and J.K. Simmons in the indie comedy The Runaround.
Seth W. Owen wrote the screenplay, which centers on a workaholic father (Simmons) who attempts to visit his daughter during a last-minute layover in Los Angeles only to discover that she's disappeared. He's forced to team up with her awkward ex-boyfriend (Hirsch) to find her over the course of one night.
Schaal will play the high-strung, New Age-y woman who hosts the two men in her home.
Spring Pictures’ Mandy Tagger Brockey and Adi Ezroni are producing with American Film Productions' George Voskericyan and J.M.R. Luna, Wing and a Prayer Pictures’ Ron Perlman and Josh Crook, and P. Jennifer Dana. Gavin Wiesen (The Art of Getting By) is directing.
UTA and Gersh are handling domestic distribution rights.
Schaal currently stars opposite Forte in the acclaimed and Emmy-nominated FX series Last Man on Earth, which is prepping to shoot its second season. She also voices characters in Fox’s Bob’s Burgers, which was nominated for an Emmy in the outstanding animated program category, and Disney XD’s Gravity Falls.
Filmwise she has A Walk in the Woods, with Robert Redford and Nick Nolte, and Michelle Darnell, with Melissa McCarthy, in the can.
Schaal is repped by UTA and Morris Yorn.
