Kristen Wiig to Reteam With Will Ferrell on Indie 'Welcome to Me' (Exclusive)
Shira Piven ("Fully Loaded") is directing, while Ferrell and Adam McKay are producing.
Kristen Wiig is in talks to reteam with her Anchorman 2 cohorts Will Ferrell and Adam McKay on the indie comedy Welcome to Me.
The actress, who is shooting the McKay-helmed Anchorman: The Legend Continues opposite Ferrell, is eyeing the lead in the film that will be directed by McKay’s wife Shira Piven (Fully Loaded).
Eliot Laurence, a former staff writer on Oxygen’s The Big Gay Sketch Show, wrote the screenplay about a woman with dissociative personality disorder who wins the lottery and decides to spend her winnings on a cable access talk show about her life.

Recent films like Silver Linings Playbook have proved that comedy and mental illness could coexist and connect with theatergoers.
Since her tour de force in the hit Bridesmaids, Wiig has become one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actresses. She has five films in the can: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Despicable Me 2, Girl Most Likely, The Skeleton Twins and Hateship, Loveship.
Ferrell, McKay and Jessica Elbaum are producing Welcome to Me through their Gary Sanchez Productions. UTA, which reps Wiig and Laurence, is repping the film for sale and is in the process of securing financing.
Gary Sanchez is in production on the Anchorman sequel for Paramount.
Piven’s credits include the documentary short The Beast and the Angel.
Wiig is additionally repped by manager Naomi Odenkirk and Jackoway Tyerman.
Laurence is also handled by 3 Arts.
