The reality star's brother, Michael, was reported missing after his car was found abandoned in Utah.

Kristin Cavallari said that her brother, Michael, who had been reported as missing in Utah, has been found dead by authorities.

"We want to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers during this very difficult time. This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all. We kindly ask everyone please respect our privacy during our time of grieving," the reality TV personality said in a statement.

The former Laguna Beach and Hills star stated: "We have just been informed by the authorities my brother's body has been found. This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all. We kindly ask everyone, please respect our privacy during our time of grieving."

Michael's abandoned 2014 Honda Civic was discovered by a local rancher roughly 100 feet off the road along Interstate 70 in the southern part of Utah on Nov. 27, launching an investigation by the Sheriff's Department in Grand County.

The car was still running when it was found, and Michael's cellphone and laptop were inside, but there was no sign of the driver.

On Tuesday, Nov. 24, Michael was arrested for what authorities said was "suspicious behavior" in Orange County.

Grand County Sheriff Steven White told THR on Dec. 7 that despite ground sweepers and helicopters covering the area in Utah, unfortunately, the ground had frozen, which made tracking difficult.

"There are really no signs of anything," White said at the time. "The vehicle was just abandoned."
