Kristin Scott Thomas Film 'Sarah's Key' to Open Santa Barbara Film Festival

Both the actress and director Gilles Paquet-Brenner are expected to attend opening night of the event, which runs Jan. 27-Feb. 6.
The Santa Barbara International Film Festival will kick off Jan. 27 at the Arlington Theatre with a screening of Gilles Paquet-Brenner's Sarah's Key, starring Kristin Scott Thomas. [Read THR's review of the film here.]

Carmen in 3D, Julian Napier's film version of George Bizet's opera, has been selected as the closing-night film on Feb. 6.
Writer-director Mike Pavone's That's What I Am, starring Ed Harris, will screen Feb. 2 as the festival's Centerpiece Gala.
On Feb. 4, the festival will bestow its 2011 Virtuosos Award on Lesley Manville of Another Year, John Hawkes of Winter's Bone, Jacki Weaver of Animal Kingdom and Hailee Steinfeld of True Grit.
