Kyra Sedgwick Unloads on Bernie Madoff to 'Piers Morgan Tonight': 'I See Him as a Sick Man'
But, she tells the CNN talk show host, "I think that shit happens."
Appearing tonight on CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight, The Closer star Kyra Sedgwick spoke openly about Bernie Madoff, the man to whom she and husband Kevin Bacon lost a significant amount of savings through his $50 billion Ponzi scheme.

At first demonstrating a reluctance to speak about the subject -- "Are we still on that?" Sedgwick asks host Piers Morgan -- she then addresses the topic.
"I see him as a sick man," Sedgwick said of the man currently serving a 150-year sentence for masterminding the biggest financial fraud in U.S. history. "And I see us as adults who made a choice. And I see a lot of people who are so much worse off than we are, and I think that shit happens."
Pressing in his characteristic way beyond the boundaries of good taste, Morgan then asks, "So gun with one bullet, and you saw him walking in the street you wouldn't ..." -- he makes a finger pistol and the sound of a bullet whizzing out of it -- "'Thanks for everything, Bernie?'"
Sedgwick replies, "He has a horrible life at this point. I think you hate him more than we do."
The actual amount Sedgwick and Bacon lost to Madoff has never been disclosed. In 2009, Sedgwick told reporters that they had lost "hard-earned money that we worked very hard for that was what we thought in a safe place." But, she stressed, "the fact of the matter is that we did not lose everything."

Sedgwick appeared on Morgan's show in support of the final six episodes of The Closer, which begin airing on Monday, July 9. Closer spin-off Major Crimes, starring Mary McDonnell, premieres immediately following the series finale on August 13.
Sedgwick has announced on Twitter that she'll be live tweeting during the East Coast airing of The Closer's season premiere on July 9.
