Greek Theatre to Host the 2015 L.A. Bluegrass Situation

Dawes, Punch Brothers and The Lone Bellow are among the acts set to perform Oct. 3 at the roots-music festival.

The L.A. Bluegrass Situation is headed to the Greek Theatre on Oct. 3 for its fifth edition.

The roots-music festival will include performances by Dawes, Punch Brothers, The Lone Bellow, Gregory Alan Isakov, Della Mae, Jonny Fritz, Sam Outlaw, Spirit Family Reunion, Dustbowl Revival and the Wild Reeds.

The L.A. Bluegrass Situation was conceived in 2010 by actor Ed Helms — better known in these parts as a banjo- and guitar-playing member of The Lonesome Trio — and Mark Flanagan, who owns the Largo at the Coronet theater in West Hollywood.

That club played host to the first three editions of the musical showcase. After a year off, the L.A. Bluegrass Situation was held downtown over two days at The Theatre at Ace Hotel in 2014.

This year’s festival, presented by The Bluegrass Situation, Goldenvoice and Nederlander Concerts, also will feature food, culture and activities. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. this Friday, May 29, at both GreekTheatreLA.com and AXS.com.
