The much-buzzed-about film already is set to pick up two awards at the Italian fest.

The Capri Hollywood International Film Festival may not have begun yet, but already the big winner of the fest is turning out to be La La Land. After the fest announced that the film would be awarded with best ensemble cast, it's announced it's also bestowing the picture with the best film score prize for composer Justin Hurwitz.

The film will have a special screening at the festival on Jan. 1, after which the best ensemble cast prize will be awarded in recognition of the work of Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, John Legend, Rosemarie DeWitt and J.K. Simmons.

The musical, which premiered earlier this year in Italy at the Venice Film Festival, tells the story of two struggling young lovers in modern day L.A. and already is pegged as a top contender for the Academy Awards. The Capri Hollywood festival is considered a key campaign stop on the road to the Oscars. At last year’s festival, Ennio Morricone was honored with best score for The Hateful Eight before going on to win the Academy Award.

The festival also announced that singer Andrea Bocelli will be honored with the best traditional pop vocal album for his Grammy-nominated work Cinema. And Malaysian entrepreneur Francis Yeoh will be awarded the Capri legend humanitarian award for his contributions to the musical arts over the years.

“Each of these three awards are very significant in their own way,” said festival director Pascal Vicedomini. “Sir Francis Yeoh is a true supporter of the arts on a global basis; Andrea Bocelli is a world-class performer whose new album is a tribute to the music of cinema; and the score of La La Land is impactful and memorable and set the tone for this year’s movie music. We are thrilled to be honoring them at Capri Hollywood.”

As previously announced, Hacksaw Ridge producer Bill Mechanic will receive the producer of the year award, Gianfranco Rosi’s Fire at Sea will receive best European film and best documentary of the year, Lion will be honored with best adapted screenplay, and Stephen Frears will be honored with the best European director award for Florence Foster Jenkins.

The 21st edition of Capri Hollywood opens Dec. 27 with Taylor Hackford’s The Comedian, and the festival runs through Jan. 2.
