Lady Gaga: Madonna Approves ‘Born This Way’
Lady Gaga has Madonna’s blessing on her new single “Born This Way.”
Last week, after she debuted the tune, critics called it a rip-off of Madonna’s 1989 hit “Express Yourself.”
But Gaga (real name: Stefani Germanotta) downplayed the comparisons during a lively appearance Monday on NBC’s The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.
“Well, the good news is that I got an e-mail from her people and her, sending me their love and complete support on behalf of the single and if the queen says it shall be, then it shall be,” Gaga said.
She added that “there is really no one that is a more adoring and loving Madonna fan than me. I am the hugest fan personally and professionally.”
Her single, Gaga said, is “about being able to know that when you were born, you weren’t just born in that moment. You have your entire life to realize the person that you’re potentially going to become and however you choose to be is part of your destiny…In this moment, if you don’t fee entirely happy and secure in who you are…it’s never too ate to harness your confidence, your inner superstars.”
