Lady Gaga's Pooch Stars in Coach Campaign
Miss Asia Kinney makes her editorial debut.
It seems that nowadays, celebrity pets are just as popular as their famous owners (see: Taylor Swift's cat, Olivia Benson; Marc Jacobs' dog, Neville Jacobs; Gigi Hadid's cat, Cleo, etc.). And the fashion world has taken notice.
The latest four-legged friend to front a major fashion campaign is Lady Gaga's furry companion, Miss Asia Kinney. The French bulldog took time out of her busy day (after all, launching a fashionable puppy line is hard, time-consuming work) to sit for photographer Steven Meisel and "model" Coach's Edie and Rucksack bags from its fall 2015 line. The black pooch wore a pearl necklace — er, collar — and gave the camera her biggest puppy-dog eyes. She's truly a natural.
“I am so proud of Miss Asia! She's a natural in front of the camera, and we're both so excited that the iconic Steven Meisel shot her for Coach's pup campaign!" gushed proud mama Gaga. Added Coach creative director Stuart Vevers, "I’ve never had so much fun on a shoot. The combination of Mr. Meisel and the pups was an extraordinary, surreal, special moment."
The portrait is the first in a new series called "Coach Pups" and will be accompanied by a social media campaign (#CoachPups), as well as the label's very first Snapchat account.
But this isn't the first time that a major fashion brand has ditched humans for dogs. Karen Walker's spring 2015 eyewear campaign starred The Fat Jew's tongue-wagging companion, Toast, while Menswear Dog also has had his share of sartorial successes.
