Lakers Guard Steve Nash Signs With WME
The agency will represent the NBA All Star's off-the-court work.
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Nash has signed with WME for film, television and digital media, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The agency will work closely with the veteran NBA point guard in broadcasting and also represent Meathawk Productions, his banner with producing partner Ezra Holland. Meathawk was behind Nash and Holland’s directorial debut, the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary Into the Wind, about a young runner’s quest to run across Canada to promote cancer research. The production company has also created ads for brands like Nike and Vitamin Water.
Nash’s NBA and marketing deals will continue to be negotiated by agent Bill Duffy at BDA Sports Management. WME will work with BDA on Nash’s endorsement and business platforms.
Nash is the latest in a number of high-profile athlete signings for WME, including Tim Tebow, Dwight Howard and Serena Williams. In all cases, WME represents off-the-field work only.
In his 17 seasons in the NBA so far, Nash has been named to eight All-Star teams and won two consecutive MVP awards. Considered one of the greatest point guards of all time, Nash also leads his eponymous foundation, which seeks to benefit undeserved children through grants that target health and education initiatives.
