Lance Armstrong's Lawyers Demand Apology for '60 Minutes' Expose

Lawyers for Lance Armstrong are demanding an apology for a 60 Minutes expose that alleged the professional biker used performance-enhancing drugs while competing at the 2001 Tour de Suisse.

Attorney Elliot Peters sent a letter to CBS Wednesday accusing the newsmagazine of shoddy journalism for a May 22 segment. The letter said the report was built on a series of falsehoods, according to the Associated Press.

In the segment, former teammate Tyler Hamilton said that Armstrong spoke of using endurance-boosting substance EPO and that cycling officials helped him hide a positive test result at the Swiss competition, which is a lead up to the Tour de France.

Last week, Martial Saugy, who heads up Switzerland's anti-doping laboratory, denied that Armstrong tested positive for drugs in 2001.

Reps for Armstrong criticized the network earlier for an "unpardonable zeal to smear" him.

Armstrong's rep, former Bill Clinton strategist Mark Fabiani, even set up a Web site to deny the allegations, www.facts4lance.com.
