He will discuss his work surrounding First Amendment issues and the importance of free speech at the June 18-20 event.
Larry Flynt has been tapped as the keynote speaker for the 2013 PromaxBDA conference, taking place from June 18 to 20 in Los Angeles, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Hustler Magazine v. Falwell 1988 Supreme Court case. Flynt will discuss his work surrounding First Amendment issues, the increasing importance of protecting free speech in a social media world and what television markets can do to grow their value in an increasingly fragmented media landscape.
"By definition, innovators stir controversy, and Mr. Flynt has been doing exactly that for close to four decades," said Jonathan Block-Verk, president and CEO of PromaxBDA International. "He has been a staunch defender of First Amendment rights and the leader of one of the biggest multi-platform media empires in the world, and we look forward to hearing his insights."
Brian Grazer will receive PromaxBDA's lifetime achievement award, and will participate in a conversation with Piers Morgan.
Additional speakers for PromaxBDA also were announced: Harvey Levin, executive producer at TMZ; Lisa Gregorian, executive vp/CMO at Warner Bros.
