'Last Exorcism' Star Joins Rom-Com 'The Bounceback' (Exclusive)
Ashley Bell joins a cast that includes Michael Stahl-David, Sara Paxton and Addison Timlin.
Ashley Bell, the star of horror films The Last Exorcism and The Day, has booked her first romantic comedy.
The actress is joining the cast of The Bounceback, a comedy that centers on two former couples who return to their hometown of Austin, Texas, on an angst-ridden weekend.
Bell will play the ex-girlfriend of Michael Stahl-David (Cloverfield) who returns home from New York City and does everything in her power to stay away from him during the trip.
Sara Paxton (Shark Night 3D) and Addison Timlin (Californication) are also in the cast.
The film is being produced by Trace Sheehan and Megan Gilbride and executive produced by Ross Dinersttein and Kevin Iwashina of Preferred Content.
Production will begin this month with Bryan Poyser in the director’s seat. Poyser, Steven Walters and David Shotwell wrote the script.
Bell, who was nominated for a Spirit Award for her performance in Last Exorcism, has her roots and blood in comedy: She trained in The Groundlings, the comedy group which was co-founded by her mother, Victoria Carroll.
Bell is not giving up horror yet, however, and just wrapped production in New Orleans on The Last Exorcism 2, in which her character is center stage. Her post-apocalyptic thriller The Day is set to open August 17.
She is repped by Paradigm, Principato-Young Entertainment and Stone Meyer.
