'The Last Impresario' Honors the Man Behind 'Rocky Horror,' Monty Python's 'Holy Grail' (Exclusive Video)
Kate Moss, Anna Wintour, Naomi Watts and John Cleese talk about their friend, producer Michael White in Gracie Otto's bio-doc on "the most famous person you've never heard of."
The Hollywood Reporter exclusively debuts the trailer for The Last Impresario, the bio-documentary from Australian director Gracie Otto on British producer Michael White.
Hardly a household name (the tag line to The Last Impresario is "the most famous person you never heard of"), White was a cultural force of 1970s Britain. The man behind the seminal productions of Oh! Calcutta! and The Rocky Horror Picture Show – both on stage and screen, as well as Monty Python and the Holy Grail -- was also famous for spotting the next big thing before anyone else.
White brought Yoko Ono to Britain, introduced dance pioneers Merce Cunningham and Pina Bausch to the wider world and got Vogue editor Anna Wintour to pay attention to Kate Moss.
"He was the only one who could really keep up with me," supermodel Moss says of 78-year-old White, who counts such celebs as Jack Nicholson, Roman Polanski, Mick Jagger and Johnny Depp among his inner circle.
Otto's documentary had its premiere at the London Film Festival before screening for buyers at Berlin's European Film Market earlier this year.
Sales group Dogwoof is pitching the doc to buyers at the MIPTV international TV market in Cannes this week.
