About Last Night: Carine Roitfeld's Paris Fashion Week Party Was the Hot Ticket
Everyone from Karl Lagerfeld to Justin Bieber celebrated at the week's consummate bash
The most coveted invitation of this fashion week wasn't for any fashion show, but rather for Carine Roitfeld's big bash to celebrate the latest issue of her CR Fashion Book.
"There's no recipe, cherie. I just invite and they come," a nonchalant Roitfeld told Pret-a-Reporter in the middle of her fashion week fete with Madonna booming in the background.
And come they did: Karl Lagerfeld, Riccardo Tisci, Olivier Rousteing, Alexandre Vauthier and Tommy Hilfiger as well as Ciara, Hayley Bennett and director Baz Luhrmann. The Kardashian klan held court in the center room, and practically every model who walked the runway this week — from Jessica Stam to Cara Delevingne — came to pay homage to the power editor. Dropping all the names here would hurt your toes — and oh, it happened to be her birthday.
Unfortunately, guests Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez didn't lead the crowds in verses of "Bon Anniversaire" (instead hanging out in a backstage VIP room), but Kim Kardashian and Gigi Hadid surprised Roitfeld with a two-meter-tall cake and giant bottles of Veuve Clicquot. The party christened the newly opened Peninsula hotel with free-flowing champagne all night.
For Rachel Zoe, who's been in the front row trenches at Givenchy, Saint Laurent, Chloe, Valentino and Giambattista Valli, the wrap didn't come a moment too soon, even if she did have an early-morning flight. "That plane ride is going to be the longest flight home. I need to see my boys. I can't wait to go home and jump in their cribs with them," she said. "It's been like one day too long."
Everyone from Stam to Delevingne played a game of tag — hashtag, that is. Art-meets-artifice may have reached its apex as guests took selfies in front of an art installation cube that was projecting a wall of freshly Instagrammed selfies right back to them within seconds.
Where else would they show off all that newly acquired couture?
