About Last Night: Pierre Hardy Throws Disco Party for Brand's 15th Anniversary
At Paris Fashion Week, the shoe designer hosted a dance soiree with a surprise performance from Yeezus
It may not have been a house party, but Pierre Hardy once did live at the Leblanc-Barbedienne mansion where he hosted 15 Ans Deja Disco Party on Saturday night, an ode to his 15th anniversary in the business. Co-hosting the celebration at Hardy's former home of over a decade (which subsequently became his showroom when he launched his first women's collection in 1999) was his friend Laure Heriard Dubreuil, who owns luxury multi-brand boutique The Webster in Miami.
DJ sets by Pandora's Jukebox, Disco Smack and Virgil Abloh started out the night, but guests were treated to some extra musical entertainment: Kanye West, by now a staple at Paris Fashion Week, surprised the crowd by taking the stage and performing songs including "Blood on the Leaves" for an audience that included wife Kim Kardashian, Theophilus London, Abloh, Travis Scott, Ian Connor, Olivia Palermo and designer Joseph Altuzarra. At one point, Scott joined the rapper onstage.
During the evening's bash, we caught up with the shoe and accessories designer to chat about the client he has in mind when designing and what he loves most about Paris Fashion Week.
Pret-a-Reporter : How are you feeling tonight after a decade and a half?
Pierre Hardy I feel disco; I feel dancing! [Makes dance moves with his arm and legs as he's currently on the dance floor and under a disco ball.]
What is your favorite shoe that's in the collection you'd advise people to go out and get now?
I think it's the pump with the chunky metallic heel, like a cube, like a very simple disco cube. It's not a disco ball, it's a disco cube.
Who is the client you have in mind when you design?
It's a woman who is body conscious and she loves it.
You have a lot of celebrity fans. Is there someone who hasn't worn your shoes yet that you'd love to see put one on?
That's a tough question for me; I'm sorry!
This is quite the party. Who are you excited most to see here?
Disco Smack is so fun, and Virgil Abloh and my friend [Heriard Dubreuil] who is co-hosting, and I don't see her so often because she lives in Miami and that's why we do it together. I'm so happy she's here.
What do you love most about Paris Fashion Week?
The energy. The creativity, I love!
